Two tropical forage grass species cultivated by the College of Tropical Crops of Hainan University (HNU) and the Tropical Crops Genetic Resources Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences have been approved for promotion.

The stylosanthes guianensis (species registration number 564) developed by Yan Linling, Bai Changjun, Liu Guodao, Luo Lijuan, and Liu Pandao is suitable for promotion in Hainan and Guangdong provinces, as well as Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The clitoria ternatea (species registration number 560) developed by Yu Daogeng, Liu Guodao, Luo Lijuan, Ding Xipeng, and Yan Linling has been allowed by the National Grass Variety Examination and Approval Committee to be planted in moist tropical and subtropical areas with an annual precipitation of more than 1,000 millimeters.

Both species are characterized by a high yield and strong resistance to unfavorable environment factors like saline-alkali soil and pests.
